Aug 28 1130 Vietnam Time - 1,500 Chickens for 30 Families - Phu Gia Village
Finally, I have a day to (hopefully) get caught up. It hasn't even been a week and so much has been accomplished. Tomorrow I'm off to DaNang for one night, then it's a train to Nha Trang with Thong (Damn Guide).
August 26 was another busy one. Khanh, Vi, and I started off at 0700, destined to Phu Gia village where 30 villagers were waiting to receive 50 chickens each. The drive was interesting, with many folks working their fields.

On arrival at the distribution point, the recipients were waiting with their bicycles/motorbikes and chicken crates. However, the company from which we purchased the chickens delivered them in returnable crates, 50 chickens each. That was a first for us and a great idea.
The recipients were recognized by local officials as being very poor and disadvantaged and 50 chickens is a huge boost for these families. Food and income. I see firsthand the good that we are doing...changing lives. We, indeed, are working wonders.

Heading Home
I feel so very fortunate to be in a position to help the impoverished and disabled rural villagers of Vietnam. What an rewarding experience! And YOU make it all possible. Thank you!!!! By the way, I have stuck my neck out and committed to 750 more chickens for 15 families, including Ms. Hanh, Mr. Tho, and Mr. Thuong. That distribution will take place Sept 9, three days after my return to Hue from Nhi Ha/DMZ.
